Tasting Notes
Vinous 91+
The 2014 Quintus is very youthful on the nose, with vibrant, almost Medoc-like scents of brambly red berry fruit, cedar, smoke and just a touch of pencil shavings. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant, fine tannins, again, very Left Bank in style with a gentle grip on the finish. This could actually benefit from a few more months in bottle. It’s quite bold in style, but it pulls it off (just). Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting. [Neal Martin, 19/03/2024]

The 2014 Saint-Emilion de Quintus is the third wine from Chateau Quintus, owned by Domaine Clarence Dillon. It is a blend of 83% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. It has a straightforward bouquet of blackberry, raspberry coulis and a faint touch of wild mint. The palate is medium-bodied with a rounded, supple opening. This is an easy-drinking Saint Emilion, the edges smoothed off, adorned with satisfactory dark berry fruit sprinkled with spice on the finish. Polish this off over the next three or four years.
