The 2014 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru les Murgers was showing a touch of struck match reduction on the nose. It will be interesting to see if that remains in situ post bottling. The palate is sweet and pastille-like on the entry with fleshy red berry fruit infused with brown spice and subtle earthy tones. There is a pleasing structure here, more backbone than the Vougeot Petit Vouget with a slightly brittle finish. [Neal Martin, 28/09/2017]

Full medium red Wild aromas of strawberry and smoke plus a touch of meaty reduction Fat, sweet and creamy in the middle, showing excellent volume for the year but not the verve or thrust of the Vosne villages The wine’s tannins coat the teeth and dry the sides of the tongue (This wine was aged in 30% new oak, vs 15% to 20% for the village wines) My score assumes that this wine will absorb its oak element with time in the cellar [Stephen Tanzer, 03/01/2017]
