The 2013 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenevottes is still very youthful as it closes in on its tenth birthday. Unwinding in the glass with scents of citrus oil, freshly baked bread, light reduction and subtle hints of pastry cream, it’s medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with a taut, chiseled profile, tangy acids and a long, mineral finish. If you own some, forget it for five or so years.
Anticipated maturity: 2023-2040
Pale, green-tinged yellow. Reticent, high-pitched aromas of lemon, lime and white flowers. In a distinctly juicy, delicate, youthfully tight style, showing very good cut to its citrus peel and noble herb flavors. A backward, low-fat wine with a slightly tart but sharply delineated back end. Good potential here.
