Dark red cherry, plum, iron and smoke all make an appearance in the 2013 Merlot, a wine endowed with tons of Mt. Veeder character. The flavors are bright and punchy throughout. The addition of Malbec adds mid-palate richness and intensity, while hints of white pepper and blood orange add lift. With time in the glass, the Merlot turns a bit darker, but it never abandons that super-classic expression of Veeder that is such a calling card. [Antonio Galloni, 10/01/2015]
