Tasting Notes

Robert Parker 92

Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Saint-Georges has a modest nose of black cherries, raspberry and a touch of bergamot tea. There seems to be some stem addition here, but if so, then it is neatly integrated. The palate is well balanced with supple and quite fine tannin, a keen line of acidity with satisfying tension. It has a modern veneer, especially on the sweet finish, yet there is good quality fruit in situ and it should age with style. Tasted September 2016. [Neal Martin, 19/09/2016]

Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039

Vinous 92-95

Bright, dark red. Lovely class and lift to the aromas of dark raspberry, bitter cherry, flowers, minerals and crushed stone. Urgent red and purple fruit flavors show outstanding penetration and delineation yet come across as remarkably refined and smooth. A salty character adds another dimension to the very long, vibrant, backward finish. Delivers the outstanding density without weight that I associate more with grand crus. (But then the long process initiated by a number of owners of this vineyard to have Les Saint-Georges elevated to grand cru status has been underway for several years already.) Anticipated maturity: 2024-2036
