The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos du Fonteny 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet with red cherries and raspberry notes intermingling with forest floor and a faint touch of aniseed. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly firm tannins, rendering this a more structured Gevrey with a tertiary tobacco-tinged finish. Ready to drink now. Decanting may improve this, but the Domaine has produced much better than this in the last ten years. [Neal Martin, 17/10/2023]
