A classical beauty, the 2013 Brunello di Montalcino lifts from the glass with dusty florals and crushed stone, giving way to crushed raspberry, hints of citrus and autumnal spice tones. Undeniably elegant and refined, this possesses the silkiest of textures, contrasted by a salty core of minerality and crisp wild berry fruit. There is simply so much energy here. It tapers off sultry, with a silty texture and a bump of residual acidity that keeps the mouth watering for more. Edgy tannins tug at the palate.
