(much less hail in this rocky site than in Caillerets; completely destemmed; late malolactic fermentation): Dark red. Aromas of brambly blueberry, blackberry and menthol. Silky and bright on entry, then quite suave in the mid-palate, with black cherry, dark berry and smoky mineral flavors building inexorably on the back half. Boasts terrific cut and definition, as well as a noble vegetal aspect that contributes energy and complexity. Not at all an easy style but a striking vin de terroir. Finishes sappy and long.
