The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Rock Terrace, from a seven-acre vineyard compared to the eight acres of Volcanic Hill, exhibits a saturated purple color, gorgeous creme de cassis and blueberry notes, underlying minerality, stunning full-bodied opulence, sweet tannin and, again, great concentration and balance. This is another 25- to 30-year wine that will hit its peak in about a decade. Nevertheless, it’s accessible already.
Anticipated maturity: 2016-2046
The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Rock Terrace is a deep, layered wine. Red cherry jam, pomegranate, plums, spices, mint and sweet spices open up in the glass. Unusually flashy and fruit-driven but with plenty of underlying tannin, the 2012 should drink well relatively early by Diamond Creek standards. The Red Rock Terrace is the most approachable of the Diamond Creek 2012s.
Anticipated maturity: 2020-2032
