The 2012 Thorevilos is deep, powerful and explosive, with massive tannins and structure that dominate. This is the most forbidding of Abreu’s 2012s, so it should be cellared for at least a handful of years. All the classic Thorevilos signatures are present though. Hints of mocha, dark chocolate, espresso, crème de cassis and blackberry jam open up, but only gradually. I don’t recall ever seeing the Thorevilos being this imposing.
Anticipated maturity: 2022-2034
