Poured from magnum, the 2010 Grand-Puy Ducasse offers fresh brambly red fruit tones and far more mineralite/terroir expression compared to older vintages poured at this tasting. The oak here feels more integrated. The palate is well defined and quintessentially Pauillac, with admirable focus, a crunchy texture and graphite notes toward the finish. This is well worth seeking out. Tasted at the Grand-Puy Ducasse event in London.
Anticipated maturity: 2025-2040
Deep garnet colored, the 2010 Grand-Puy-Ducasse gives up notes of blackcurrant pastilles, prunes and fruitcake with wafts of espresso and oolong tea. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has very good fruit concentration, with a firm, grainy texture and seamless freshness, finishing long and earthy.
Anticipated maturity: 2020-2039
