The 2009 Chambertin is seriously intense in its deep, intricate layers of fruit. Floral overtones and hints of licorice add complexity as the wine opens up over time. The Chambertin finishes with substantial energy while maintaining tons of aromatic freshness and complexity. In short, it is a marvelous, complete wine with many years of brilliant drinking ahead. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039. Pierre Damoy’s 2009s have turned out magnificently. Damoy remains one of my favorite under-the-radar growers. Importer: Peter Weygandt, Unionville, PA; tel.
