The 2009 Langoa-Barton has a surprisingly high toned bouquet with blue and black fruit, a bit of glycerine here, almost New World! The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, slightly lower acidity than one would expect, touches of blue fruit translated from the nose with a sweet and playful, if not profound finish. This is a wine that I have adored in the past but this bottle does not quite deliver, hence my lower score. Tasted at BI Wines & Spirits’ Ten Year On tasting.
The medium to deep garnet colored 2009 Langoa Barton is scented of warm red and black plums, dried mulberries and blackcurrant cordial with touches of dried mint and new leather. Medium to full-bodied with a solid frame of grainy tannins and bold freshness, it has loads of red and black berry preserves layers on the long, savory finish.
Anticipated maturity: 2019-2034
