Quite a deep, intense, broody nose of blackberry, a touch of cedar and oyster shell. The palate is quite masculine compared to the more feminine Echezeaux. Structured, quite decadent with layers of sweet red-berried fruits, a touch of brown sugar and firm grip on the finish. It just lacks the vivacity and charm of the Vieille Vignes but I am sure it will improve. Long-term proposition. Drinking 2015-2035. Tasted January 2007. [Neal Martin, 01/01/2007]
