Full red-ruby color. Medicinal black fruits, minerals, violet and menthol on the captivating nose. At once sweeter and finer than the Clos Vougeot, with a more obvious floral character, a finer grain, and a higher pitch to its raspberry and dark cherry flavors. This has a texture like liquid silk. In a supple, lush, rather feminine style, finishing with suave tannins and just enough energy. Gros says this one’s a tart, and that the Clos Vougeot has more material and will be better in the long run, but today I find more precision here.
A deep ruby hue. A very tight nose of black cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry lavished in new oak. A touch of wild mint evolves in the glass and then steaming espresso. The palate is full-bodied, super-smooth on the entry with a real velvety texture.A Good acidity, very deep, voluptuous and sensuous. Real breeding here. Good length, very focused with a touch of minerals. Backward and tannic with years ahead of it. Magnificent wine. Drinking 2009-2018. Tasted January 2007.A
Anticipated maturity: 2009-2018
