Tasting Notes

Robert Parker 92

The second wine from Harlan Estate, the 2004 The Maiden shows plenty of cedary Christmas fruitcake and creme de cassis notes, a touch of vanillin and a rich, opulent mouthfeel (no tannins stick out whatsoever). The wine is plush, succulent, and altogether hedonistic and intellectually satisfying. Drink it over the next 10-15 years. [Robert Parker, 04/01/2014]

Anticipated maturity: 2014-2029

Vinous 91

Full, deep ruby. Explosive aromas of red- and blackcurrant, tobacco, minerals and menthol. Sweet and fine-grained, with terrific fruit intensity and balance for a second wine-and a sense of completeness. Vinous, ripely tannic and long, but the tannins of the 2005 are more refined. [Stephen Tanzer, 01/05/2007]
