Tasting Notes

Robert Parker 89

The 2003 Matriarch, a blend from the lots selected from all of the vineyards used in the Bond program, reveals a forward, cedary, spicy, roasted herb-scented nose reminiscent of a top-notch Pauillac. Medium-bodied, fleshy, round and fully mature, this seductive 2003 is best drunk over the next 5-7 years. The single vineyard wines represent Bill Harlan’s concept of offering single vineyard, micro-climate/terroir-based wines from distinctive sectors of Napa Valley. Tel. (707) 944-1441 [28/06/2013]

Anticipated maturity: 2013-2020

Vinous 89

Superripe, roasted nose shows a medicinal quality. Lush and sweet but a bit cooler in style than the 2004. Today, the wine’s edge of acidity has not yet come into harmony with its firm tannins. [Stephen Tanzer, 05/01/2006]
