The 2002 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva speaks to precision, understatement and class. I don’t find the energy and pure vibrancy of the best bottles, but the 2002 is nevertheless quite pretty. Most days the 2002 bests the 2003, but in this tasting the 2003 clearly carries the day. The 2002 has often been much more compelling than this. [Antonio Galloni, 01/10/2016]
