Vinous 87-90

Good ruby-red. Enticing, superripe aromas of dark raspberry, minerals and spices. Sweet and fruit-driven, with slightly medicinal flavors of maraschino cherry and sweet oak. The alcohol comes across as slightly elevated and the acids a bit spiky. This has some power, but the wineA s wood and alcohol have not yet come into harmony. (Lardiere also showed me a negociant version of the same cru, which offered good ripeness and a supple entry, but less concentration and clarity than the estate wine. [Stephen Tanzer, 03/01/2004]
