Tasted at the Decanter Fine Wine Encounter in London. The ’99 Gravelly Meadow displays a rich, opulent kirsch, raspberry and liquorices scented bouquet. Very intense and focused on the palate that has more unresolved new oak than the Volcanic Hill. Black berried fruit and blueberry vying for attention towards the rich and voluptuous finish. Excellent. Tasted November 2002
Medium bright ruby. Aromas of black cherry, boysenberry, bitter chocolate and charred oak. Strong, rather grapey flavors of black cherry and minerals. Finishes with strong, slightly rustic tannins.
