Tasting Notes

Robert Parker 96

This opulent, full-bodied, flashy, flamboyant, evolved Haut-Brion Blanc exhibits a light gold color in addition to deep, concentrated, honeysuckle, lanolin, orange peel, and white peach aromas as well as flavors. This opulent, viscous 1997 can be drunk now and over the next 15-20 years. Last tasted, 1/03. [Robert M. Parker, Jr., 01/01/2003]

Anticipated maturity: 2003-2023

Vinous 90+

Discreet nose hints at clove, herbs and marzipan. Sweet entry, then bright and tight, with lively lemony acidity giving clarity to the flavors. This is fairly dense and full, but there less material here than in either the ’98 or the ’96. Currently dominated by its structure. Longer and more concentrated than Laville ’97. [Stephen Tanzer, 05/01/1999]
