Tasting Notes

Robert Parker 88

Ex-cellar bottle tasted blind at the Lynch Bages vertical. A simple nose: blackberry, a touch of bilberry, wild hedgerow, blackcurrant, a touch of grass. Touches of cooked meat coming through, reminds me of a Musigny in an obtuse way. The palate is full-bodied, firm tannins, a little powdery in texture but good cohesion with spicy black fruits, a touch of savoury, good weight, quite cohesive, correct finish. No frills Pauillac. Drink now-2015. Tasted September 2009. [01/09/2009]

Anticipated maturity: 2010-2015

Vinous 86

(4.8 g/l total acidity; 13 % alcohol): Dark ruby-red. Delicate aromas of dark berries, incense, sandalwood, grilled meat, smoke and black pepper. The palate offers simple flavors similar to the aromas, showing good balance and easy quaffability but lacking the depth and concentration of the better vintages. Finishes with smooth tannins and modest length. [Ian D’Agata, 01/01/2012]
