The Wednesday Offer
Bounty of Bordeaux
Hello Collectors,
One of the biggest reasons we don’t often get to do widespread Bordeaux offers is that it sells so quickly! We’ve had the good fortune of a nice bounty of Bordeaux to show up in recent weeks, and there is even more on the way. We hear you, and we are working quickly to keep up the stocks. Meanwhile, take advantage of today’s offer…while it lasts.
A few of my all-time favorites appear today, starting with 1990 Angelus, an ageless wonder. Two of my favorites from the 2000 vintage, La Conseillante and Léoville Las Cases, are both hitting their stride at age 25. The 1990 Latour has been outperforming its rating for several years now and should be another immortal wonder. The recent head turner for me was the 2009 Bellevue Mondotte, which was remarkably balanced, and rich in a way that never felt over the top – it’s a high wire act that is worthy of its triple digit score.
The top wines are easy to find today, as beyond the 100-pointers, there are still a great many highly rated wines. Moreover, there are fun formats to choose from, most notably magnums of the 1996 Pichon Lalande, a tremendous value for drinking now. Be certain to not miss the half bottles that we so rarely see.
For those that may not have heard, we lost one of the titans of Bordeaux, Gerard Perse, earlier this month. As the owner of both Pavie and Bellevue Mondotte, his vision and trailblazing spirit transformed Bordeaux, leaving an indelible mark on its very fabric. His passing is not just a loss, it is the departure of a true pioneer whose influence cannot be overstated.
