The Friday List - 9/27/2024
Something to Celebrate
Hello Collectors,
Today is a big milestone for me. It’s been exactly 3 years since I joined UOVO Wine and took over the day-to-day operations for Cellar Trading. It’s been an extraordinary journey, and I thoroughly enjoy the work that I do. I have an amazing team and have the privilege of working with consummate professionals at every level throughout the company. And, just like every previous Friday over the last 3 years, I’m excited to bring you the list of incredible wines that you see below.
As shipping season closes in, there are several great new arrivals or soon-to-be-arrivals on the horizon, largely a bounty of top white Burgundy. Producers like Bernard Moreau, Comtes Lafon, Hubert Lamy, Jacques Carillon, Ramonet, Raveneau and Sauzet comprise our latest acquisitions, all of which are competitively priced and many that are superb values. Given the range of styles and vineyards represented, all these growers need to be added to your collection – their commonality is their consistent greatness and very limited allocations, so don’t miss any of them! Red Burgundy includes both tremendous value and blue chips, but the highlights are the amazing new releases from Gerard Mugneret. The critics are clearly in love, and the only issue is that because Mugneret has risen to such exceptional quality levels, the wines are now highly limited. I can’t stress enough that you must add these to your cellar!
Champagne is represented by a trio of vinous royalty – Krug, Salon and Bouchard’s Roses de Jeanne, all of which are known for their classic mouthfeel and texture. Bordeaux and the Rhône are packed with both value and tremendous quality: Cos d’Estournel, Léoville Las Cases, Leoville Poyferré, La Mission Haut-Brion, Clos des Papes, and Janasse. California hits with a whooping 6 100-point wines, and all from classic names like Marcassin, Shafer and Spottswoode.
