The Friday List - 9/13/2024
Lucky 13
Hello Collectors,
Today’s list highlights the diversity of our client base. While some may not have interest in Saxum, it’s historically been a great performer for us, and frankly something that I wish we would get more to sell since it just flies off the website without an email! Others may look at the price of DRC and certainly balk at the price due to it being a four-digit wine, but there are others who can’t wait to snap them up at the same time. Only we could put both of these things in the same email, and find customers for both.
Since we’ve let the cat out of the bag on two of the producers today, let’s run down the rest! Burgundy is a bit more limited than usual, encompassing a personal favorite during a golden period of wine making for the estate – Claude Dugat’s glorious Charmes-Chambertin. We have the aforementioned DRC to mate perfectly with Roumier and Raveneau, all pillars of Burgundy greatness. We close with some nearly 20-year-old examples from another personal favorite of mine- Robert Chevillon, which are tremendous values. Champagne is nicely represented by a trio of excellent Krug bottlings.
The remainder of today’s offer is dominated by the Golden State. Kinsman-Eades has one of its biggest showings in a long time for us, while Bevan (another rare bird for us, including the 100-point Dr. Crane) and Harlan also have wide assortments. Other cult cabernet makers like Promontory, Scarecrow, Tusk and VHR also make appearances, and a few other gems are sprinkled throughout, including 100-point Maya! There is still more to check out, but for now we will let you shop today’s excellent list.
