Bordeaux’s Best

Hello Collectors,

“The 2022s are some of the most memorable young wines I have ever tasted in Bordeaux. The best 2022s are magnificent, viscerally thrilling wines that show what is possible with thoughtful approaches to viticulture and winemaking. A number of properties at all levels made their best wines ever.”

—Antonio Galloni, Vinous

As longtime readers have probably noticed, we rarely begin an email with a quote. Heck, it’s rare that we use quotes anywhere in our emails. But this one from Antonio Galloni perfectly encapsulates the 2022 Bordeaux vintage, a year of incredibly high highs. In fact, some are so high that the wines are being touted—yes, even this early—as the all-time best by some estates, and not just by a single critic, either. There is broad agreement on the top wines of the vintage, which is frankly quite rare. And even though the vintage is strong at the top, it’s all about selectivity this year. Today’s selections are incredibly limited, as production was significantly impacted by spring frost and summer heat, stressing the vines into low yields. As a result, the top wines will be magnificent, highly coveted… and extremely hard to come by.

We waited until the end of the En Primeur campaign to offer these because it gives you a snapshot of the vintage. 2022 is a year that is absolutely triumphant for the best wines, so that’s exactly what we’re bringing you. Sadly, a few items listed in our online store were already picked off, but even what’s left is still one of the most exciting offers you’ll receive this summer. There are almost a dozen 100-point wines here, and another 4 that may well achieve the same once bottled and settled. There’s thrilling value from estates like Montrose, whose second label comes out at an unbelievable $40 per bottle. Lynch-Bages also punches way above its weight class, with their second label available for only $45. And for those who thought this was going to be an “expensive” vintage, take note: the only wines to exceed $350 in this offer are First Growths.

We really can hardly contain our excitement at this selection and pricing, but we again have to address the elephant in the room: availability! Everything you see here is EXTREMELY limited, and since we’re at the end of the En Primeur campaign, there is no more to be had after this. The next time we offer them will be in bottle. We’ve already seen prices rise too, with the second wholesale tranche of Léoville Las Cases matching what we’re offering them at today! But today is your chance to score 2022’s best, rarest Bordeaux—and at the lowest prices of their long lifetimes—so don’t delay, or you might very well miss out.
