The Friday List - 5/19/2023
Rarities, blue chips, legends, and stalwarts
Hello Collectors,
This week’s Friday List is one we’re especially excited about, but must warn you of potential whiplash before you keep reading. In fact, today’s wines include such sought-after bottlings, we’ve moved up the “don’t hesitate or you’ll miss out” warning to the very front. Same with our note about provenance: everything you see below was bought on release and perfectly stored since. This list is emblematic of Domaine’s mission to offer you what you can’t find elsewhere, at the click of a button.
We start with a thrilling pair of Champagnes: 1985 Krug and 1996 Salon, both legendary wines, and both drinking extraordinarily well right now. The Rhône answers with its own eye-popping duo: the ultra-rare Cuvée Cathelin from Chave and two offerings from Rayas. Italy brings its own star power with Vajra, Burlotto, and Bartolo Mascarello. From Bordeaux, how about a magnum of the absolutely ageless 1990 Latour? And while our recent Abreu feature sold out within an hour, we’re excited to have a little more come our way, available for you today (though perhaps only for an hour).
The bulk of today’s offer is all about Burgundy blue chips, beginning with a great selection of Raveneau’s Montée de Tonnerre. Smaller in scope but bigger in magnitude, we’ve also got not one but two epic vintages of Roumier’s Bonnes Mares. Looking for large formats? Check out the incredibly rare bigger bottlings from both Clos du Tart and Lignier’s Clos de la Roche. And if you’re somehow still reading this instead of scrolling this mind-blowing list, we’ll just close by pointing you to the DRC, Dujac, Méo-Camuzet, and Ponsot.
