The Friday List - 12/8/2023
Simply the Best
Hello Collectors,
It’s an adage that everyone I know has been repeating lately, but it really does seem crazy that the year is basically over. I feel like the 4th of July was only a few weeks ago, but alas I’m way off in how far back that really was. Maybe I’m just not ready for the cold and have been dreaming of warmer weather (which is unfortunate for me, as we still have several months of cold weather looming), but if there is a happy upside to the months of winter ahead, it is that it’s full-blown red wine season, which I’ll always take as a fair consolation. Don’t worry, there’s plenty of great white wine in today’s offer too, and even a little bit of Champagne, so overall this a list that will make any wine lover get excited.
Today’s list has some nice representation by quite a few producers, most notably Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, all of which are rated 95 points or higher by Allen Meadows, and are in perfect condition. We follow that with strong depth from Domaine Dujac, from their impressive slate of 2018s, and quite a bit cheaper than a lot of other Dujac we’ve sold recently too. Not to be overlooked is an impressive grouping of Raveneau to go with an impressive set of 2021 village level whites from Jean Marc Roulot and Alex Moreau (formerly Bernard Moreau). Oh, and a few 2020s from Coche-Dury that should find a nice home today.
We haven’t offered a lot of California wines lately (not by design either, as we have an extensive selection that you can view here), but we hand selected some fan favorites like Abreu, Dunn, Marcassin, Realm, Sea Smoke and Shafer Hillside. And before the Champagne lovers think we have forgotten about them: we have iconic rarities from Krug and Moet & Chandon, with a fabulous value on Taittinger’s Comtes de Champagne Rose.
