The Friday List - 12/15/2023
Only the Best
Hello Collectors,
This is our favorite kind of Friday List, one that is so chock full of incredible wines that it is easy to gush about their quality. As we typed this up, we couldn’t help reminiscing about the times we’ve drank some of these wines that rank among our greatest wine memories. Today’s offer is non-stop temptation, and fast action will be required.
Where do we start? Let’s kick off with California, which we feel we’ve been neglecting lately (and not by design, either). We are fortunately seeing new arrivals of Bryant Family, a longtime favorite of Domaine clients, and one of the first cult wines of Napa. We follow that up with other Domaine favorites and cult-status wines like Colgin and Hundred Acre, two pillars of the 100-point score club. Also not to be missed are other highly rated offerings from Dominus, Futo, Phelps Insignia, Scarecrow, Sloan, and Kongsgaard’s highly acclaimed The Judge Chardonnay (in 2 vintages no less!)
We round out the stellar New World offerings with some truly staggering names from the Old World. We’ve got a wonderful selection of Bordeaux, as evidenced by 4 out of 5 first growths (sorry, no Mouton this week), as well as the highly coveted Chateau Petrus! Other classified growth Bordeaux in this offer includes Cos, Lynch Bages, Pontet Canet and Montrose. There are a few other gems from Italy (Gaja and Giacomo Conterno, of particular note) as well as the Loire Valley icon Edmund Vatan and his latest release of Clos Neore Sancerre (and in magnum format too!). A truly fabulous wine that all collectors should experience at least once (but really, once is never enough).
We close with a star-studded Burgundy lineup including Rousseau, PYCM, Dujac, Denis Bachelet, and a nice cache of Mugneret-Gibourg (all the way up to the Ruchottes Chambertin!). Oh, and we didn’t want to leave out the grandniece of Henri Jayer- Cecile Tremblay! The cult status of these wines only continues to rise, and coming off the heels of a tremendous release is another superlative year for her with the 2020 vintage. These wines are coveted around the globe, and we are thankful that we can even offer these out!
