The Friday List - 10/11/2024
Consensus Greatness
Hello Collectors,
I built today’s Friday List based on strict criteria. First, although we roll out the best producers every week, I narrowed this down to the consensus best producers; ones that have very few detractors, if any. Second, I mapped out only the absolute best vintages. Vintage reputations can waiver and change over time – but not these. The goal was simple- bring you the best of the best without any dispute of the wines’ greatness.
California comes through with an impressive 17 perfectly scored wines. The list of names should come as no surprise, with chardonnay master Aubert offering sensational values. Cabernet greatness runs deep starting with Abreu (a huge Cellar Trading favorite), spanning all the way to Scarecrow, Schrader, and Screaming Eagle – with everything in between. Also, don’t miss two vintages of the ever-popular (and super delicious!) MacDonald cabernet.
Italy kicks off with a tremendous duo of 2021s- Masseto and Tignanello, sporting both a perfect score and a 98-point rating, respectively. The names that follow should come as no surprise: Burlotto, Elio Grasso, Gaja, G. Conterno, and G. Mascarello.
France has much to represent, starting with Champagne from Dom Perignon and Krug, and delicious Rhône from Clape, Clos des Papes, and Pegau. What follows is an avalanche of greatness from Bordeaux and Burgundy, testing temptation at every price point. Both combine for an incredible 6 perfectly rated beauties but also carry a bounty of other lofty scores. I can keep listing all the great names here, but I think it’s better you jump down to the list so that you don’t miss out on something before it sells out!
