The Friday List

Our Top 50 Values All In-Stock!

Hello Collectors,

Friday has arrived! As we browsed our current inventory this week, we were struck by how many incredible wines we have that also represent exceptional value, so we’re featuring our Top 50 $400 and under. 25 selections are $200 and under, and nearly all carry a 95-point rating or higher. Everything is in stock, tariff-free, and ready to transfer to your UOVO storage or ship to you. If you’ve been procrastinating (Thanksgiving will be here in a month, and I hope you’re bringing some stellar bottles, ideally from Cellar Trading!), I can’t stress this enough: now is the time to secure the bottles that will grace your table – and add some exceptional values to your cellar.

To start, I suggest stocking up on two vintages of the ever-classic Dom Pérignon, a duo from Chartogne-Taillet, and Sélèque’s gorgeous Soliste Rosé Charmiers. Next, 1982 Lynch-Bages and 1990 Figeac would be incredible for the holidays, as would a pair of 1999s from two of our favorite producers and their signature bottlings: Faiveley’s Clos des Cortons and d’Angerville’s Clos du Ducs. Two aged vintages of Clos des Lambrays also make the cut; Grand Cru Burgundy under $400 is rare these days, but we have four options under $300. Back to Bordeaux – the Léovilles always represent terrific value. William Kelly writes that the perfect 2016 Las Cases is “one of the high points of this great vintage…stands out for its cool classicism and unerring precision.” It’s unquestionably a must-have to lay down.

Next up, Rhône and Italy – two vintages of Sassicaia (one worth buying by the case), overachievers Massolino and Oddero, and Vincent Avril’s masterful 100-point 2007 Clos des Papes, a perfect wine from an outstanding vintage that’s squarely in its prime drinking window yet still has another decade-plus of life ahead. Grab a case of the 94-point $37 Penna Currado Barbera (technically a Superiore), throw some charcuterie down, and you will be ready for those guests who like to linger!

From the Golden State, we have a range of classics and cults from Aubert to Sloan:  perennial hits Continuum, Insignia, Kongsgaard, and Lokoya; Philip Togni’s heroic 99-point 2021 flagship Cabernet; and for a walk on the wild side, Next of Kyn Distenta White, a thrilling blend of Chardonnay, Viognier, Gelber Muskateller, Roussanne, and Petit Manseng.

End with the opulent 1994 Graham’s Port ($40 for a 375ml) or the epic, tiny-production 99-point 2007 Taylor Vargellas Vinha Velha to lay down in storage – it’s got another half-century (at least!) of life ahead.

Please note you will not be charged any additional federal tariffs on these wines.
