For the Love of Bordeaux

Hello Collectors,

There is no shortage of wine stores in this world, both online and analog, where you can buy good wine. But great wine? The kind of wine that you think about years later, or celebrate milestones with, or invest in, or buy for a newborn’s eventual 21st birthday? Those purveyors are few and far between. Here at Cellar Trading, we consider ourselves the latter, our mission to make sure you don’t miss out on great wines. Today’s offer is a classic example of this, overflowing with not only some of the finest Bordeaux being produced today, but also remarkable value.

While we wait for news of the 2022 Bordeaux vintage, 2021 has finally picked up the recognition and market steam that we expected. The wines are incredibly low production, making them hard to find, but both the quality and the prices make up for the scarcity. Overall, the vintage was a stunning throwback to the classic elegance of 1980s Bordeaux, and we have several of these retro-style bottlings that are in contention for 2021’s Wine of the Vintage.

Leading off with our lone white wine, the Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc is a seriously collectible bottle that any fan of Bordeaux Blanc should add to their collection. We tasted it at En Primeur last year and can confirm that it is the real deal. We ourselves are guilty of not buying enough white Bordeaux, and frequently regret it, so here’s your chance to avoid similar FOMO. Not to be outshone by its blanc counterpart, the Smith Haut Lafitte Rouge is also incredible, itself already a head turner in our tastings. And speaking of Lafite… we somehow have 6 bottles available of this elegant, tiny production First Growth.

One of the most amazing aspects of the 2021 Bordeaux vintage is the range of sleepers and exquisite values. While scores are still settling down or being awarded for such a young release, the list of 95+ point scoring wines that are under $65 is staggering, including Beau-Séjour Bécot, La Gaffelière, Giscours, Chevalier, and Malescot St. Exupéry. How impressed were we with these? Enough that the allocations we received were definitely larger than what made it into our offers… because we couldn’t resist buying some 6-packs for ourselves. And for those seeking Bordeaux stalwarts and icons today, our list doesn’t disappoint, with names like Vieux Château Certan, Léoville Las Cases, Calon-Ségur, Canon, Figeac, Montrose, and Cos d’Estournel rounding things out. Truly, whatever you pick up from this list today, you cannot possibly go wrong.
