Vintage Spotlight: 2022 Burgundy
Classic Balance, Strong Buys & All In Stock
Hello Collectors,
Critics and collectors alike have deemed 2022 a classic Burgundy vintage, offering balance and restraint compared to earlier years that leaned riper and more opulent. This is a more traditional Burgundian year: elegant and well-balanced across the board.
So why buy now? Every wine here is in stock and ready to ship or transfer to your storage, meaning no tariffs. We stocked these thoughtfully pre-tariff and are pleased to pass the savings along. Production was also higher in 2022, allowing for a bit more availability. With appealing pricing and solid critical scores, we consider these strong buys.
At the top end, Méо-Camuzet’s Richebourg and Aux Brûlées offer rare Grand and Premier Cru Vosne in a beautifully balanced vintage, while Antoine Jobard’s Pommard 1er Cru Saussilles brings muscle and precision from one of Pommard’s most compelling sites. This offer is further elevated by true Burgundy headliners – highlights include DRC Corton-Charlemagne alongside Alain Hudelot-Noëllat’s Romanée-Saint-Vivant. Cult favorites Prieuré Roch Nuits-Saint-Georges Vieilles Vignes and Dujac Morey-Saint-Denis bring depth and pedigree, while Lamy-Caillat Chassagne-Montrachet anchors the whites with serious demand.
Volnay lovers are especially well served, with a deep bench from Cellar Trading favorite Lafon, including Champans, Clos des Chênes, and Santenots du Milieu, alongside Jean-Marc Bouley’s Carelle sous la Chapelle, all highlighting the vintage’s finesse and age-worthy structure.
At more accessible levels, the lineup shines just as brightly. Another one of our value favorites, Domaine de Cassiopée delivers far beyond its price point across Bourgogne and Maranges, wines that punch well above their weight in 2022. Genot-Boulanger’s Pommard and Michel Lafarge’s Beaune Les Aigrots round out the reds that we are recommending, and on the white side, Benjamin Leroux’s Meursault Blagny and d’Angerville’s Meursault Santenots bring depth and minerality, while Chablis is exceptionally well covered with Vocoret and Moreau-Naudet, offering site-driven wines with real staying power. Taken together, this is an exempllary cross-section of the vintage—from everyday Burgundy done right to true cellar pieces, and exactly why 2022 remains such a strong buy.
