New Arrivals:
Rhone, Spain, Tuscany and Beyond + 2022 Sassicaia!
Hello Collectors,
Deep in the heart of winter, we are all yearning to travel and experience what Anthony Bourdain called that “gorgeous feeling of teetering in the unknown” or at least, change up what we are drinking. To that end, we’ve got an abundance of exciting new arrivals that we don’t want you to miss. Most of this list is comprised of wines from two of our longtime collectors who have a keen eye for what’s compelling for current drinking and further aging. Both have thoughtfully compiled diverse and eclectic cellars over the last decades.
Along with the big names that they have built their collections around, they’ve also focused on Germany, the Loire, the Rhone, Spain and Tuscany. We are lucky to be able to bring you just a few selections from their vast holdings, as both have decided to clear a bit of storage space for their own new additions. Bonus: we’ve also added the incredible 2022 Sassicaia (WA 97+) this week – first to the market in the U.S.!
Some of these esteemed producers you will know well, and others will be worth trying for the first time, from Chave to Zenato and Zyme’s Amarones. I can’t think of a better time of year for the aged Amarone we have in stock especially those from the Veneto’s top producers, dal Forno and Quintarelli. Don’t miss Stella di Campalto’s singular Brunellos, a trio from the pride of St. Joseph, Pierre Gonon, and Il Poggione’s “drop-dead gorgeous” (VM) 2019 Vigna Paganelli is perfect stocking up by the case.
A fascinating duo to drink side-by-side would be the 2009 and 2020 Allemand Cornas – so be sure not to sleep on that pair! Look for Egon Müller’s ethereal Kabinett along with some J.J. Prüm to brighten up a dark winter day, and don’t miss the latest releases from Borgo del Tiglio, including the Studio di Bianco, considered one of the best Italian white wines by Wine Advocate. Almost all wines are in-stock and ready to ship or add to your UOVO storage.
