The 2017 Vosne-Romanee Les Rouges du Dessus 1er Cru is showing some oak on the nose, although there is sufficient fruit to support that. This seems to gain purity and delineation in the glass. The well-balanced palate is fleshy, ripe, and quite sweet and tart, with red cherries, blood orange and a citrus element on the silky-smooth finish. This might not be long-term, but it is very well crafted, sensual and alluring. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting. [Neal Martin, 18/01/2022]
